    If the inverter itself has an on/off switch built into the case you could always open the case and run a much smaller wire to a light duty switch that splices into the case switch. But you would not get the indicator light like you would in his setup. That transfer switch is huge, smaller ones?

    Low temp protection, it’s always a small sensor on top or on one side of the battery but if you have your charger connected and doesn’t pull any powers from the battery the cells will still be frozen when the surrounding temperature has heated the battery enough and the sensor thinks it’s warm enough The sensors should be mounted between the cells to get this right. What do you think? If you don’t pull any power the cells won’t heat up enough before the sensor allows the battery to charge or am I missing something?

    Hi Ross. Looking for advice. Have a simarine shunt + tank sensor. Works totally fine for me. Also have mppt /dc to dc - charger brand is SRNE. And inverter for 3000w. Now looking for add offshore charger/inverter. So thinking about replacing my inverter to victron multiplus 2000 or 3000va - not sure yet. So my question: is it will works fine with this setup? Or probably need add something else from victron range to the system? For control it?

    The Cerbo GX wins hands down for a few reasons.... having the Cerbo as a separate box that goes in the wiring cabinet/engine bay leading to a neater display install - the Ekrano you have to have all the cables to the back of it so you are limited where it goes. Dont bother getting a display for the Cerbo as its best to use on your phone/tablet as if you buy a display they often go out of date....

    I had a pair of those I tried to parallel. The BMS sleep mode is a problem if you try to parallel them. The ones I had would not work well in parallel; only one would "wake up" and the other would not turn on until the voltage of the first battery dropped. I would not use these batteries in parallel. I suspect they are fine in series.

    You leave a lot less questions with your thoroughness. These Avoid # mistakes, videos are a great chance to learn what not to do, then learn what to do in the very next moment. I'm getting ready to add a Victron 50 amp charger to our '24 Cirrus 920, and I'm putting all the pieces of the puzzle together while ordering what I'm certain to need for the job. I'm taking the Einstein approach, and spending 59 minutes to understand a problem, and taking the last minute to solve it lol. It seems that if I'm going 25 feet with a black and red 4 AWG cable, then a 60 amp fuse is just right. I hope so, because that's what I have. lol

    What is the spring for? Is there an electrical reason for it?

    • @rosslukeman
      @rosslukeman 25 днів тому

      The spring is there to smash the electrical contacts against the fuse for a tight connection. It's not supposed to be part of the circuit, fits between the plastic housing and the back of one of the contacts on the end of one of the wires. Hope that helps, thanks for tuning in!

    Some say battery to battery chargers can overload the alternator.. what think?

    • @rosslukeman
      @rosslukeman 25 днів тому

      Hey there, they can overload the alternator is their amperage is too big for said alternator. But generally if you get one with a reasonable amperage for your alternator, it will protect the alternator by limiting the charging to that amperage. Hope that helps, thanks for tuning in!

    This is so far the closest to what I'm trying to accomplish, just without the charger. Have a 5th wheel... adding solar panels and Lith batteries. How would I bypass the trailers invertor/convertor to make this setup work? Would I need a breaker switch like you show for shore power? Or was that just for demonstration purposes?

    • @rosslukeman
      @rosslukeman Місяць тому

      Hi Daly, on the breaker, I tend to add my own for shore power input, but there will be one out at the power pole you plug into as well. The rest of your question is kind of difficult to answer without knowing what you have, and is beyond the scope of UA-cam comments. If you would like consulting and perhaps a hand sketch, I have that available here: www.rosslukeman.com/offers/Au4HykMc Thanks for tuning in!

    Instead of sliding the wires into the solder connector. Intertwine the wire strands, making a solid mechanical connection and sliding the solder connector over and melting. It gives you a stronger on mechanically.

      Solder should not be treated as a mechanical bond. The solder in the solder sleeves I understand contains bismuth and lowers the alloys' temperature to around 140°C. Bismuth makes the bond point very brittle.

    Does the Pro sensor have a USB plug to connect via the power bank or throw other power supplies? How long does his battery live? I want to install the sensor on my car's propane tank 70 liters. It is cylindrical and located horizontally. Will this pro version sensor work? Thank you.

    • @rosslukeman
      @rosslukeman Місяць тому

      Hi Tigran, thanks for tuning in! As far as the USB plug, no, the sensors do not have any plugs/ports. It's battery power/Bluetooth only. If you get the new Pro Check Universal, they increased the battery life on that one. It should last 2-3 years. It is supposed to work on horizontal tanks. You might get the little plastic cage that also bonds to the tank, to help the magnets. However it's supposed to stay on with only the neodymium magnets it has. Hope that helps! Here is the Pro Check Universal for reference: amzn.to/3WWpkLm and this is the collar if you need one: amzn.to/3R1s4n6

    Thanks for the info about the Cerbo GX not needing the Touch 50 or 70, and the ability to use a tablet or smart phone. I had NO IDEA the Cerbo GX could operate like that. This ability (tablet or Smartphone) would be very useful in my truck camper because I have no place to run the wires from the Cerbo GX to the Touch screen, unless they are surface mounted on a wall, which is very un-elegant. I have a CCGX which works fine, but it's mounted low and in a hard to view area, maybe I will replace it with a Cerbo and use an existing tablet I already have.

    Ended up here somehow, but very interesting. If I can’t solder I like the solder seal ones as an alternative. But I like to use marine heatshrink over the solder seal heatshrink. It ends up looking like a soldered connection and makes it more rigid. Slide a piece over before heating the solder seal, let it cool a little then seal it up.
